Helping you find comfort beyond your comfort zone

I’m Jennifer Wagener, interior designer in the Greater Charlotte area.

When you step beyond “the expected,” you discover what makes a space truly comfortable because it reflects the real you.

You’re here because you want a trusted professional who guides you through the interior design process. You don’t want to burn time by making expensive mistakes or trying to combine various preferences that don’t flow.

As your designer, I’ll show you what’s possible. So we can make it personal.

Luxurious design should be you-driven, not trend-driven

I have one primary goal: To connect all the dots by connecting with you.

By stepping into your shoes, I identify what your design needs to achieve, whether you have a clear vision or you’re feeling completely lost.

We may chat about:

  • If you like to entertain
  • If you travel often
  • Family lifestyle, memories, and traditions
  • Important daily habits
  • Stylistic influences and distastes
  • Stories and nuggets of sentimentalism

From there, I use a streamlined process, high-quality materials, and authentic touches to transform your space. Often, this means blending tastes from multiple people in your household to create a cohesive environment where everyone feels at home.

“With Jennifer, we achieved cohesion in our home.”

She helped us narrow down our style and brought us a little bit out of our comfort zone by presenting things that we ultimately ended up going with. If we were to do it ourselves, it would’ve dragged on for years. We work a lot and didn’t want to spend time going from store to store. It was great having things brought to you that you would never otherwise think of.

What are 3 design must-haves in your home?

  1. Drapery! It adds drama, interest, and a finished look to any room.
  2. A comfortable sofa in a fun fabric like animal print.
  3. Accessories, color, and prints! These bring personality to a home with a “lived-in” feel.

What’s your favorite piece in your own home?

My leopard print sofa. 😉

What unexpected places do you get design inspiration from?

My farm animals and garden. Both provide an organic, natural mix of colors and patterns. The feathers on my chickens and the sunset on the pond. The vibrancy of the plant’s growth, from seed to flower to veggie or fruit. It all inspires limitless creativity.

You moved around a lot overseas growing up. What did you learn from that?

So many things. For one, I learned how to redesign my bedroom over and over! The first thing I would do each time we moved was decorate my room, from my Barbie stage to my heavy metal stage in the 80s.

I eventually moved to Guam with my parents, which was a shock. Looking back now, I appreciate everything I learned so much. It taught me about different cultures, dealing with adversity, valuing people, and never taking what you have for granted.

The most inspiring thing was all the relationships I cultivated and still have intact today. It was an experience I’ll cherish forever, as I saw parts of the world I might not have otherwise. It also helped shape me as a designer by supporting my ability to understand others.

How did you decide to pursue interior design professionally?

I’ve always been creative and wanted to be an interior designer. But, for a long time, I let my personal beliefs limit me in pursuing an “artistic” field.

Eventually, I couldn’t stand corporate life or wasting away in a cubical anymore. When my husband and I moved to the countryside, things changed. I started raising chickens, getting my hands dirty, and watching my garden flourish. That’s when I knew I couldn’t hold myself back from growing any longer.

So, I studied at the New York Institute of Art & Design while working part-time as an interior designer. Eventually, I took the plunge with my own design business.
